Peptide Nucleic Acids (PNAs)
Peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) have emerged as crucial tools in biomedical research due to their unique properties and versatile applications. PNAs are synthetic molecules that mimic DNA, but with a peptide backbone. This peptide backbone enhances their stability, resistance to degradation, and affinity for target sequences, making them ideal for a range of molecular biology techniques.
PNAs are extensively used for gene targeting, gene expression modulation, and diagnostics. They can specifically bind to DNA or RNA targets, preventing gene expression or enabling the detection of specific sequences. The outstanding potential of PNAs in applications such as antisense therapeutics, genome editing, and disease diagnosis has positioned them as valuable assets in advancing biomedical research.

Frequently asked Questions
We recommend not to exceed 20 bases if possible, because the efficiency of the synthesis starts to drastically decrease upon further elongation. Longer sequences can increase the costs.
Yes, this is possible. We can attach several amino acids to your PNA, such as e.g. short CPP sequences.
Yes, this is in general possible through either coupling to the N-terminus of the PNA or through the introduction of C-terminal or N-terminal Lysine, which can be modified at the side-chain amino function.
We offer standard purities of >70% and >90% UV-purity after HPLC purification.
The standard scales are either 30 nmol, 100 nmol or 1 µmol. For larger amounts, please contact our staff via request@intavispeptides.com
The nucleobases are connected via a peptide backbone, that replaced the phosphate backbone.
Yes, PNA has a strong binding-affinity to DNA.
